Withernsea

This is the North Sea at Withernsea on Humberside. The groynes have been built to try to save the coast from erosion, but as you can see by the colour of the water, the soft clay cliffs are still being worn away. On this coast you can see fields that are just a few yards wide, roads that come to a crumbling halt 50 feet above the beach below, Wooden buildings, teetering on the edge of the cliffs. Nature triumphs over man's ingenuity.
