Where Next?

The Congo Goliath Tiger fish as always facinated me. They have been caught on rod and line to over 100Lbs, and they make a Pirhana look like a friendly fish. A man named Douglas Dann who sounds actually like a Super Hero to me, once wrote a book about them. Titled 'The Largest Tigerfish In The World'.

My friend John Griffiths rang me from the Congo some years back. He had gone there to build helicopter pads for the UN. He obviously took fishing rods with him. He told me to give him some time, and he would track down good fishing areas to catch the Congo Tiger fish. I had fished with Griff in Kazakhstan, and Spain before. He had put me on big fish locations in the past, and he is an angler who will try fishing anywhere.

Unfortunately while he was there a protest started, and a type of mini civil war broke out. Losing all his fishing tackle, and only being left with the cloths he stood in, having to flee the area. So that dream is now on the back burner.

I never realised though how difficult it would be to fish wild waters in China. Getting permission to fish such waters seems impossible. I was given good advice, and information by a Chinese man last year. He told me lakes with an high population of people living nearby. The carps in such lakes will usually be very small in size, because they are regarded as a food source. He told me it could be more trouble than it is worth, trying to fish in the Chinese wilderness. He told me the army and the police are different in all regions, and they may not believe I'm actually visiting to fish. He said I would be better off travelling to America, it would be far easier to get permission to fish big waters there. So I might have to contact my good friend Donald Trump.....Lol

Afghanistan, and Syria was once on the cards, and we did find people that could of got us permission to fish there, but unfortunately as quick as we located such people with an interest in fishing there. Shortly after tracking them down both times wars sadly broke out there.

One lake I have interest in is Lake Garda Italy, I know you can not night fish it. Although I have been told you can eel fish it at night. Though there must be some monster carp in there. It is a such large amount of water to not have big fish in, but I never see much ever written about the place. I would not be surprised if there is large Wels catfish in there as well, because south-eastern tip of the lake is the Mincio river. Where the Wels have been caught at large weights. I think I might just turn up there one day with a couple of rods, and reels, and try to buy some basic baits from a supermarket.

Another fish that fascinates me is the Bull Shark, a fish that not only lives in the sea, but can swim up many freshwater rivers. It as been caught in American, Australia, and South American rivers. Some say the film Jaws was really based on the Bull shark, and not the Great White. Though I know one thing if I get lucky enough to fish for them in a river, not only I might have to climb in the water to unhook them, but "I MIGHT NEED A BIGGER BOAT".....Lol
