The Two Tone Mirror - Myths Pool

I'm Finally back

It was nearly seven years since I last wet a line. Fished a small not to difficult lake near to my home known as Myths Pool, just to get a bit of a bend in the rod.

Well it is only easy if you drop your baits on feeding carp. If we don't catch somewhere like there it means we are casting to the wrong spot. I never blame the elements in August, as in weather. Though it sounds like the type of lake if the elements are half right, your in with a good chance of a carp.

Picked the worse time to go though. I think it was the hottest 72 hours this year. Had two just hovering around the twenty mark. This was the best looking one, a two tone Mirror carp.

Will try again just hope it isn't so hot next time, the bigger carp don't seem so active in the heat there. Makes it harder work to catch one, when it is really hot. Though the smaller carp were bombing about everywhere.

Update - Did Return

Though was told the two forties in the lake are not originals. They were put in recently. I was told they came from the Isle of Wight. Which was disappointing for me, maybe not others, but I would of been happy enough catching just the much smaller scaly stockies in the lake, but it would be hard to avoid hooking one of the much bigger carp eventually.

Unfortunately some lake owners are feeling they are under pressure to stock their waters with big carp as well nowadays. Instead of giving the smaller stocked carp time to grow on naturally. This pressure unfortunately comes from anglers who are not willing to work to hard to catch a big fish. They just want the chance of big carp far to easy these days.

I am what I would call an old school carp angler.....So I'm now planning to find another water with a good head of carp that is not to difficult to get a run from. Which will gently ease me back into the swing of things.

Then hopefully eventually return to fishing some very difficult low stock waters again.
