This is what we were in Uganda for, a Multifunction Platform (MFP) site. It was the brainchild of a graduate student from Columbia several years ago. We were there to assess the progress of the project. The MFP sites consist of a diesel engine (the red box) and a drive shaft with pulleys. They pulleys can be connected to multiple kinds of grain milling, hulling, and polishing equipment. The communities can then process their own food for market instead of having to travel great distances and pay lots of money to have it processed for them.
