VENICE of THE NORTH...

#AbFav_BRIDGES_🌉

#AbFav_PHOTOSTORY

Let me tell you an interesting story: many think that the name BRUGGE, which is the Flemish for a bridge and since Brugge has so may over all the canals, derives from that fact.

But NO, the name Bruges (Brugge) is comes from the old-Scandinavian (the Viking invaders) word 'Brygga' meaning 'harbour' or 'mooring place'.

The river Zwin linked the settlement to the North Sea and it very quickly became an important international trading port.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 80 BRIDGES IN BRUGES!

Most romantic!

Here you have a few, more later, NOT all 80...

Thank you for your time and comments, M, (*_*)
