TROIS BELLES…

Iceland Poppies,I love them, these are from my garden.

The petals are quite sheer, and very tender, indeed like butterfly wings.

Their colours so vibrant, raindrops clinging on, yes, they were thrashed about by strong winds, a little damaged.

The colourful poppy, with tissue-paper petals on thin hairy, wiry stems

Cultivars come in shades of yellow, orange, salmon, rose, pink, cream and white as well as bi-coloured varieties.

Papaver nudicaule, the Iceland poppy also called Arctic poppy, is a boreal flowering plant.

 

Native to sub-polar regions of Europe, Asia and North America, and the mountains of Central Asia, (but not in Iceland)…
