or: Cornflowers on a black background…

Cornflower blue is a shade of medium-to-light blue containing relatively little green compared to blue.

This hue was one of the favourites of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.

CORNFLOWER and CENTAUREA cyanus, commonly known as cornflower or bachelor's button, is an annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe.

Graphic portraits of Cornflowers in different stages.

And, I just learned that Cornflower are often the reference for an ideal sapphire blue.

The cornflower is considered a beneficial weed and its edible flower can be used for culinary decoration, for example to add colour to salads.

Cornflowers have been used and prized historically for their blue pigment.

Cornflowers are often used as an ingredient in some tea blends and herbal teas and is famous in the Lady Grey blend of Twinings.

Hope you are all safe!

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)
