BUTTERCUP TIME...
#abfav_MAY
In the Yorkshire Dales.
Drystone walls are, with hedgerows, one of the most commonly used field boundaries in England, and help create what we now regard as the traditional pattern of field and lanes so evocative of rural England.
While hedgerows are most common in the Lowland Zone, drystone walling is most often found in the Upland, Zone.
It defines the landscape of Yorkshire, cuts the land like endless veins.
The story I was told was that they were loose stone because of the wind, now 'whistling' through..
The roots of drystone walling as a method of enclosing fields lie at least as far back as the Iron Age.
My adopted country is a place of extremes, from lush, green and fertile to barren and bleak, a beautiful part of the world, where you can come to rest and feast your eyes and replenish your soul!
Although I am not really a landscape photographer, I cannot help myself to try and capture the beauty when I see it…
Thank you for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated.
Have a wonderful day, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*)
