OLD SALTY SEADOG...
#AbFav_Nautical
At the Harbour of Morro Jable, Fuerteventura, in a corner along a dead-end road, was this old boat, mostly stripped, on oil drums and shored with scanty support.
It looked like it had been like this for quite some time; it became the centre of attention for Paul and me.
A wooden boat, once somebody’s dream, pride and joy was now abandoned, made in the old tradition, it must have been painted different colours over time but the last was definitely Bleu Ciel! Most of its timbers now bare and bleached.
This is the top of the bow, the prow with maybe a humorous view on a figurehead.
Exploring around it, I could not find a name anymore, yet somehow, to me, the name Ahab seemed fitting.
"When that wicked king was slain, the dogs, did they not lick his blood?" (Moby-Dick, Chap. 16)!
To me it looks like the face of a dog… an old salty sea-dog… yes I often see faces in things...
I stared at it for quite some time, mesmerised, dreaming of adventures at sea, all the spray it must have enjoyed, maybe the storms it had conquered...
I wish you all the best and thank you, M, (*_*)
