IN FULL RAGALIA…
A bearskin is a tall fur cap, usually worn as part of a ceremonial military uniform.
Traditionally, the bearskin was the headgear of grenadiers and it is still worn by grenadier and guards regiments in various armies.
After defeating Napoleon at Waterloo, the 1st Foot Guards was renamed the Grenadier Guards and their entire regiment adopted the bearskin covers for their ceremonial dress.
The purpose appears to have been to add to the apparent height and impressive appearance of these troops both on the parade ground and the battlefield.
A Bearskin weighs 680 grams.
I wish you a day full of beauty and thank you for your visit, Magda, (*_*)
