026 A WARM INVITE…

Day 3

We continue our bit of ‘cultural’ for the day and step into the old, Roman part pof the Holy Blood Chapel.

Once inside, I look back and see how heavy the entrance doors are. The thick stone walls are still cool, the lights warm.

St Basil’s Chapel is the lower chapel of The Chapel of the Holy Blood .

The chapel has little decorative elements but it is the only part of the building that still has its original shape.

It is one of the best preserved examples of Romanesque architecture in Bruges. The largest room has three naves, covered by a cross rib vault supported by sturdy pillars.

There is a definite mood in there, some quiet music even accentuates that. You do not have to be religious to experience this.

I wish you a day full of beauty and thank you for your visit, Magda, (*_*)
