DEFINITION...

CHRISTIAN DEDEENE... THE BALLET DANCER...

 

Still one of my favourite portraits.

He was for 5 years a solo and star dancer with one of the greatest choreographers of the century, Maurice Béjart .

I was fortunate to have him in our studio a couple of times, and what an experience it was, each time.

 

After I'd seen him in action and done the 'dance photos', I asked him if he would pose for this portrait I had in my head.

I know how these people work out day after day, I admired the definition in the muscle tones and tendons.

The result is what I had imagined, the proud profile, the wild hair, and THE DEFINITION.

 

I love dramatic lighting, especially for this kind of subject.
