SMEDENPOORT (Blacksmith's Gate)...
#ABFAV_urban_architectural
The first Blacksmith’s Gate (Smedenpoort) dates from 1297-1299; the current gate was built on the remains of the old one in 1367.
It is one of the four remaining city gates of Bruges.
The first gate dates from 1297 - 99, but was rebuilt in 1367 - 68 by the master - masons Jan Slabbaert and Mathias Saghen.
Later she was rebuilt several times.
Characteristic of this port is that it is completely surrounded by water.
Our way into Brugge, I spotted this, another fun photo-opportunity!
With love to you and thanks, M, (* _ *)
