Artist's Studio_5773
The studio of Nora Heysen AM, who was an Australian artist, the first woman to win the prestigious Archibald Prize in 1938 for portraiture and the first Australian woman appointed as an official war artist. Nora had an excellent pedigree, her father was Sir Hans Heysen, one of Australia's favourite artists.
This room was part of Nora Heysen's studio complex on the family estate near Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills district. Right after taking this photo I noticed a discrete sign advising visitors not to take photographs. Oh well, at least I didn't use flash - oops, oh yes I did. 😁
Studio, Nora Heysen, Hahndorf, Adelaide Hills, South Australia
