Hail Spring!_1352
Late yesterday we had the mother of all hailstorms cut a swathe through Adelaide, including our suburb, complete with heavy rain, strong winds and the heaviest and largest hailstones I have ever seen. The sound of them hitting the roof was deafening. I collected a handful to check the size - largest measured 45 mm long although one at least on the far side of the lawn there seems larger.
This was the scene on our back lawn, just after the event. A little later the sun came out - we had it all in about 30 minutes. Apart from leaf fall and some lost roses, no real damage done here* but in other nearby areas cars were damaged and glass broken.
*Upon closer inspection this morning, we did get some minor damage to our cars :-(
