[CLONING AROUND] & [SOFTWARS PRE-POST-MID SECOND TRILOGY]

by TranscendentalAccidentalism

I was a 5 years old when the first film, directed and produced by George Lucas, STAR WARS opened in theatres. Opening day a friend and I were at a special trip to Arthur's Toys (no longer in business - a dam shame … they had EVERYTHING toy stores used to have), which was adjacent to the movie theatre which STAR WARS was opening on its first day.
There was a local news correspondent crew covering the hyped event, which included a trip into the toy store where my friend Michael Yonker (currently Attorney at Law in NY, NY), his mother Mary, and I were at the first end-cap where first runs of the films 3&1/4" action figures had been put on beautiful display … it didn't take long for us to each make our decisions:
Mike got "the white guy" & "the black guy" and I (not even having quite enough money for one got "the white guy".
We had NO IDEA what they were. they were magic in a package. "the white guy" was in fact the STORMTROOPER ("the black guy" being Darth Vader).

This event would be a solid part of my culture, perhaps the first to be defined by media. Its a part of me and I a part of it. As popular as the films were/are, I feel a closer connection as I'm sure all young white boys that were that age feel the same. In fact STAR WARS and its various content and form are more relevant and taught me more than any religion, bibleblack, or church/institution ever did or could.
