E-Snail
In the snail world, sometimes a little help is needed to climb the steepest stalks!
The increasing trend in popularity of battery-powered electric bicycles - E-Bikes - provided the inspiration for this image (I have a friend that raves about her E-bike). Even with the AAA battery, I needed a large snail, and I was fortunate that my morning snail patrol discovered this individual (next to the hostas). To keep the photoshoot as quick as possible, I found a daffodil stalk in a part of the garden that gave a pleasing background - the top end was secured so that the addition of the snail wouldn't bend it down away from how I had positioned the camera. Attaching the battery to the shell was easily done with Blu Tack and the snail seemed to take little notice of it, crawling quickly up the stalk (battery-powered perhaps?). The planning and set-up took longer than the time working with the snail.
For Macro Mondays theme 'Battery'.
No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.
