His Last Bow

Sadly, for all you fans of the adventures of Brian, it is now time to say goodbye - the pistil and stamens of the azalea flower even look like they are saying a sad farewell. I have kept Brian and all his friends safe, warm and well fed throughout the cold months, and in return they have been wonderful photographic models. But now that it is properly spring they have been returned to my garden to wreak havoc on my tasty plants. But don't worry, no doubt you will be seeing a new Brian eventually as snails are easily found here - I only have to check my hostas!

Title taken from a 1917 Sherlock Holmes short story by Arthur Conan Doyle. Although I suppose I could have taken the title from an old Rolling Stones track 'This Could be the Last Slime'.

For Macro Mondays theme 'Zed'. The image shows a single azalea flower.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.
