Blue-crowned Trogon
Blue-crowned Trogon (Trogon curucui)
This is another lifer from my recent photo tour "Jewels of Ecuador" and the image was taken at Yasuni NP on eastern Ecuador.
This bird and his mate were both working on building their nest in an abandoned termite nest along a river near our lodge.
We were hearing an antbird calling so everyone on the canoe was looking down on the dark understory but for some reason my eyes were scanning all around and that´s when I saw this colourful bird posing nicely but being very quite and still while its mate was not so in the open yet we could also see her.
It is amazing as how even a colourful bird like this can pass unnoticed.
