Jaspal Chadha - London Astrophotography
M81 Galalxy
Beyond the edge of the world there’s a space where emptiness and substance neatly overlap, where past and future form a continuous, endless loop. And, hovering about, there are signs no one has ever read, chords no one has ever heard.”
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
Behold the M81 galaxy
The m81 is one of the brightest galaxies in planet Earth's sky and only a mere 12,000,000 light years
Towards the bottom of the image you can see the Holmberg IX, a dwarf irregular satellite galaxy of M81 formed only 200 million years ago…I can count a dozen other faint galaxies!
I took this over two nights In December Using the following equipment:
Location: London (UK)
Takahashi 130 with reducer telescope
Ioptron CEM60 mount
QSI 690 CCD
luminance 30 x 600 seconds
Red 10 x 600 seconds
Green10 x 600 seconds
Blue 10 x 600 seconds
Ha 5 x 600 seconds
Happy New Year
