Abacá pulp (20100201)
Book Arts 291 covered making paper today in class. There was lots of pulp left over and the visiting instructor said we could for it into balls and let it dry. It could be rehydrated and pulped again for later paper making. The pulp is Abacá, a kind of banana plant; the fibers come from the stems of the leaves.
Also called Manila hemp. Apparently it dries to the color of Manila folders...guess why.
