Dante stood around the wooden square table in the armory of, castle Eddern Harold. Among those gathered were: Duke Harold with his two most trusted knights, the two Elves of the wandering woods, and finally the two Paladins of course. They had laid out a map of Roiwa on the table.

" this is the Dragons Backbone." The one on the right from said, from behind his helmets visor. "It is deep in Garheim territory. Only eleven leagues from the Northen sea. The small town estabilished there is almost no better than a fishing village." He stopped for breath. At which point the other Paladin took his oppurtunity for an inter-faction jab to say "Most of Garheim is." There were chuckles around the table. Dante did not react, he had never cared for insulting the men of the Northen lands. After a few moments silent, the former resumed his report. "The Assassins have invaded with a full brigade of dragons soldiers and-" Dante held up a hand and he stopped. "Assassins?" Was all he said. The Paladin who was speaking sighed and, turned to Duke Harold. "You have not told him?" He asked. Duke Harold took a deep breath and, looked at Dante. "I suppose I didn't burden you with this news yet did I?" Before Dante could answer he continued. "The Assassins are our greatest rival Three hundred years ago a desert tribe was suspected of magic usage. A full company of Paladins was sent deep into Loreas to investigate. When they arrived what they saw was a massacare. The Areani.... The special forces of the Loreas military had arrived first. None were being spared by these animals, women and, children were being put to death. Without hesitation the Paladins charged into action they fought back the Areani forces and saved the village." At that he paused and, turned to the knight on his left. "Get me a drink laddie I am parched from all this speaking." He turned back to Dante and, started again. "Naive they were in those days though, foolishly they took them in forgetting their own mission and, treating them as refugees. It was the third night into out journey back to Lenfald when all were awoken by screams. The very people we had fought so hard to save, had betrayed them. Murdering countless of the order in their sleep. By the time they had driven them away, the number of dead amongest themselves was beyond the count of grief." At this Duke Harold looked down and, breathed out a heavy sigh before continuing. "After they made it back to Lenfald they sent inquirers out among Loreas seeking answers they found it one night when a young Areani warrior arrived at their compound at the risk of his own death. After being ushered into the main chambers to meet with Godfrey Oswald the fourth Chief Paladin of the order. He told him of all he knew of the desert tribe. He said they were the scourge of the western desert. A group of cutthroats for hire, and that was the beginning of our trouble with this group. I have told you what you need to know, now can we continue with the briefing?" Dante nodded thoughtfully rubbing his chin. "Our plan is simple. Take all available forces we have and crush them." The Paladin giving the report said. "No." Was all Dante said. he looked across the table meeting the others mans eye that were hidden behind his visor. "Excuse me" He said in return. "This I think has been our fault through the years. Allowing our brashness to interfere with sound logic." Dante leaned down and, looked over the map spread across the table. "If my map reading skills serve me well this is a mountain pass here yes?" Dante asked. "Yes that is" the other replied. "Well then, If we lead a company archers through we could flank behind the opposing force." the moment Dante suggested it heads begin to shake around the room. Duke Harold broke the silence "There is a reason there's no name beside the dotted line lad. Few if any have made it through that treacherous mountain pass." Dante began nodding at this when he looked across the table to look Duke Harold in the eye he said "Most men, but what of the elves?" When he said this, smiles broke out in the room. In fact everyone in the room was smiling, everyone except the elves. "We leave in the morning" Dante said.
