South Queensferry

Black Castle, a category 'A' listed building, is the oldest dwelling house in South Queensferry, It was built by William Lowrie, a Mariner and Explorer, in 1626,

On 6th April 1643, Marion Little, William Lowrie's Sister-in-Law, confessed to paying Marion Stein, a beggar witch, to make a storm to sink Williams ship, laden with corn for the Soldiers in Ireland, and drown him and his crew. Both were later burned as witches at Ferrymuir. by the Rev Ephraim Melville, Queensferrry 'Witch Finder'
