turnbull canyon fire 1967
Today we use DC10's, back in 1967 they used B-17's. The plane clipped the Eucalyptus on this pass. I thought this would be an interesting contrast to today's high-tech fire fighting techniques. A scan of a slide from my archives. This is the oldest of my images on Flickr. From the 2nd or 3rd roll of film I took with my new Pentax graduation present. An added comment: A friend and I were almost arrested while taking images of the fire. We were in "No Man's Land" with out press passes. We were asked to leave the scene immediately. We didn't and when the officer saw us a short time later we had to explain that access to our car was an issue. He shook his head and walked away!
