East Joliet Yard
CN L521 arrives the Middle Yard at East Joliet, the former nerve center of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern, behind a grimy EJ&E SD38-2 and a repainted IC GP40R.
East Joliet was made up of three classification yards: the North, Middle, and South Yards. Historically, the South Yard (foreground) classified eastbound traffic, the North Yard (background) classified westbound traffic, and the Middle Yard was a receiving yard. A fourth yard, the repair yard, was located adjacent to the locomotive shop, now the site of a CN intermodal facility.
