City of Beer
With AMTK P42DC #161, the eastbound Empire Builder crosses the Menomonee River as it departs Milwaukee towards its final destination of Chicago, less than a hundred miles south.
The Milwaukee Center Tower in the background stands adjacent to the site of the Oneida Street power station, which powered Milwaukee's streetcars and extensive interurban operation: The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company, which operated until 1958. The TMERL building, which is located off Water and Wells along the river, still stands to this day.
