Sgurr nan Gillean, Cuillin, Skye
The plan was to camp overnight on the Cuillin outlier Marsco, and to shoot an image of the main ridge at sunrise. Progress uphill was slow and an hour or so from the top a cloud base began form up above me. Frustrated, I debated whether to continue or retreat but as I was nearer the top than the bottom, I decided to continue. To my delight, within half and hour I had passed through the cloud and now looked down upon it. For once the elements seemed to be working in my favour and this lighter cloud filled an otherwise dark Glen Sligachan below and gave me an image that I hadn’t been anticipating. By dawn, it was raining heavily and gusting and my pre-visualised image of the Ridge was put on hold.
