going the distance

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic started out

as one virus about half a year ago. It is so small only

an electron microscope can see one. A pollen grain

is millions of millions times bigger. A dandelion seed

is trillions of trillions times bigger. The smaller and

lighter an object is, the farther and higher it will travel

in air currents. The virus is released into the air that

hosts exhale in aerosol droplets. Think fog. Fog is

aerosol water droplets suspended in air. Fog lingers,

floats, and drifts. A virus-contaminated aerosol will

travel farther and linger longer than a pollen grain or

dandelion seed, which can travel long distances.

 

The corona virus requires a host and cannot

replicate outside one. Everyone not wearing a mask

becomes a host if they inhale the virus. The virus is

invited in with every breath. After an incubation

period during which they may not experience any

symptoms, hosts exhale way more viruses than they

invited in. People not wearing masks are

volunteering to be mobile corona virus nurseries

 

To not be a victim or host for the coronavirus.

simply wear a mask when you share the air outside

your home. Wearing a mask protects you and others

and is a small sacrifice and restriction compared to

the others imposed on us. Everyone doing so will

give us back the freedoms we all used to have.
