Spider-Man Vol.3 Finale

Continued from last issue.

Kaine threw the first punch. It hit Peter hard knocking him back.

"Look Pete, I don't wanna fight..."

"I have to stop SHIELD....."

"From what? SHIELD is here for the people."

"You don't understand."

"Understand what?"

"Understand that SHIELD was created for other things."

"Like war?"

"Destruction."

Kaine looked to see a computer booting up.

"What's that?"

Peter looked at the computer and back at Kaine.

"You can NOT touch that." Peter said.

Kaine looked back at Peter.

"It's what is going to take down SHIELD."

"Get away from it!"

Peter rushed at Kaine, knocking him back. Kaine pushed him off, and grunted while doing so. Peter got up again, only to be knocked down by Kaine swinging a hard punch into his jaw.

Kaine rushed towards the computer hoping to shut down the program. He could here Peter laughing on the floor.

"If you shut that down... I'll be forced to call you a villain."

Kaine saw the computer was uploading a program. He had time to argue.

"Why?"

"SHIELD.... It's not what you think."

"You've told me that."

"Oh... It's way worse than you can believe. You mean to tell me you don't have your suspicions?"

Kaine thought for a moment.

I mean... we do.

"What are you talking about Peter?"

"They created my powers... what else do you think is in store?"

Kaine looked at the computer. The program was running, and was at 25%. Kaine thought of a plan. He went to the computer, and grabbed a flashdrive off the desk.

"What... what are you doing?"

"I'm talking plan B."

Kaine plugged in the flashdrive, and closed the program.

"NOOOOO!"

Peter got up onto his feet, and went to hit Kaine. Kaine saw this coming, and stood up. He put Peter to the ground easily.

"You're rusty Parker."

Kaine dragged the program to the flashdrive, and once done, pulled out the flashdrive, and smashed the computer.

"What...." Peter said coughing up blood, "Are you doing?"

"Keeping it for later. You're right you know. SHIELD may be something else than I had originally believed. But it also might not. I'm not taking that risk trying to wipe their intel."

"How'd you know I was going to do that?"

"It said it on the computer."

"Ah... Well, now that we've got this all settled out..."

Peter walked over to Kaine, but he never got to speak. Kaine punched him so hard, he was knocked out.

Well... that settles things?

Sure.

Now. Whatta 'bout Gwen?

"What? Kaine... you can't leave."

Kaine smiled.

"Well, really I'm not. Peter will be here."

"I can't do that to you... it's not fair."

"It doesn't matter what's fair Gwen. It has to happen. Go back to your normal life. I've made it too dangerous."

"So where will you go?"

"I going to go on my investigation on SHIELD. I need to know if Peter was right."

"Peter is dead Kaine."

"No... this is him."

"You don't know that."

"Gwen, what I do know is, I can't stay here. I've already caused to much danger to you both."

Kaine looked down at her stomach.

"You can't leave your son."

"I'm not leaving the city Gwen. It's just..."

"It's just you're leaving!"

"Gwen. If you haven't noticed yet, I want you to have you're life back. I don't want to be the substitute."

"You weren't a substitute. What we had was real for the past few years."

Kaine felt a tear roll down his eye.

"I know. I can't risk it though Gwen. I'll visit. Like always."

"What about him?"

She motioned to her stomach.

"He's not even mine. I'm the clone remember?"

"Kaine DON"T say that. You're not just a clone."

Kaine got up from the park bench they were sitting on.

"You always told me that."

Kaine walked over to Peter, and told him to go sit with Gwen. She'd fill him in.

"Kaine... I...."

"You're sorry? I know. Oh, and you're welcome."

Peter started smiling, with tears.

"Come on don't get emotiona...."

Peter hugged him. Kaine returned it.

"You believed in me when no one would."

"Well... that's what brothers are for. Just do go stealing my spot as Spider-Man!"

"I'm done being the hero Kaine. It's your time."

Peter let go, and walked to Gwen. They really hit it off, except Gwen was crying the whole time. Kaine walked off, remembering his great life that he once had. But all that had to end. He had to go back to work.

He walked to Harry's penthouse and looked out the window. Peter and Gwen were walking in the park, talking. He saw Gwen laugh.

Kaine sat down on the bed, and tried to keep a straight face. But he lost control. He broke out crying. But he knew it was good she was with him. Once he was done, he got up and walked over to the living room.

"Thanks for letting me stay here Harry. Once I gave the house to them.. well, you know."

Harry turned around. He was in a tux, trying to cover the symbiote arms.

"No problem Kaine. You've done everything you could to help her. So I want to help you."

"Oh, and sorry about the arms."

"What these? No, these are a blessing. It can do a lot of stuff."

"Well, happy you like 'em. Thanks again."

"No problem. Now what's this thing about SHIELD?"

"I need to know if they are who they are. And maybe you can help me."

"Anything."

"Great. I'm just going to go out for a while."

"Speaking of going out..."

Harry walked over to the fireplace and flipped a button on the mantle. The fireplace turned around, revealing his old suit.

Kaine smiled.

"Like old times."

He looked at Harry, and Harry nodded.

Let's play some music... the dark and bruiting kind.

Kaine smiled, walked in, and put on the suit.

Kaine swung around NY, looking to see if he could find an antenna. If he could find one, he could find trace it to a secret base at SHIELD.

Oddly, he hadn't heard from Fury since he went to take down Peter. Something was off.

While swinging, he saw a robbery in place.

Not on our watch.

Kaine let go of the web, and dropped about 20ft. He then landed cracking the street a little.

Ooooh, we're sooo cool.

Kaine stood up, exactly when the robber came out of the store. He stood there in shock.

"Sp... Spp... Spider-Man?!?"

"Oh yeah."

He grabbed the man, and swung onto a crane.

He frightened the man by holding him with just one hand.

Just then, Kaine saw something weird. He saw Sandman out in the street. This was normal. The thing he saw that was different, was a person in a suit that looked just like his. The suit looked red, or more like Scarlet. This, "Scarlet" Spider-Man was actually fighting the Sandman.

"Hold on..." Kaine said to the robber.

He shot a web around the robber's and, allowing his to hang on the chain. This freaked the robber out.

Kaine rushed down to the scene, but before he got there it was over, and the figure was gone.

Here we go again.

So there it is guys! The end of Volume 3! Hopefully you guys liked this, as alot happens. Congrats to LegoMadness, as he got the role of Scarlet Spider, hence the reason why this is mentioned. In Vol.4 expect a crossover....
