Amaryllis belladonna (Series)
On a whim, I "splurged" and purchased an Amaryllis belladonna bulb which was just beginning to sprout, at Trader Joe's on December 23, 2023. I was totally unsure whether it would really flower, as I had never had one before. My husband and I were amazed and delighted by the entire growth process, the beauty of every part of the plant, and the delicate scent of the flowers! I decided to do a photographic study, which began on the day of purchase and has continued through today, February 1, 2024. It bloomed not once, but twice and still has one last perfect flower, which will fade within a few more days, as have the other three of the four-blossom "crown." The $9.99 (US dollars) that was spent, turned out to pay dividends!
