Snapping Turtle that was Run Over *(Warning Dead Animal)
Apologies in advance to anyone who may not like seeing this dead snapping turtle run over by a motorist and left to rot along the roadside. I discovered it by accident while photographing other wildlife from a view along the roadside at the Orland Park Nature Center.
I felt saddened to see this wonderful snapping turtle's life ended by a motorist having run over it, which cracked the entire shell right down the middle. To add further "insult to injury.," someone tossed a plastic bottle out from their car window, which landed right next to the dead turtle.
As of July 29, 2023, the remains are still in the same spot.
