Royal spoonbill.
In the summer of 2008/9, two pairs of Royal spoonbills bred successfully at the Jerrabomberra wetlands. The tree they chose was directly in front of one of the hides, and before long, the hides were as busy as a railway station with observers. This morning I was lucky enough to get here very early, and while things were quiet, this adult just wandered past and looked at me.
The pink background is a floating fern that turns pink in summer.
Whatever did people do without old photos to remind them of so many enjoyable moments?
