U.S. 23A Alarm Display

Western Electric Company 23A alarm system. A more modern office alarm display system. Horizontal units could be stacked on top of one another if more lamps were needed. Originially used by New Jersey Bell Telephone.

Unlike older office visual alarm systems which became difficult to manager in multi-system and multi story building the 23A system integrated with most any system and provided color and alarm designation.

On the bottom right of the pictured unit you can see the older type screw in bulb. In this case red.
