Motor Generator Set

This is an example of an A.C. motor driving a D.C. generator.

 

These were found in old Central Offices an usually put out either 24 or 48 volts D.C.

 

On the right you can see the rotor and brushes. The rotor had to be wiped clean on almost a daily basis to pick material left behind by the brushes wearing down..
