ZIPPER MOUTH EYEBALL LIPS

"Freudian slips are eruptions of the subconscious mind."

This odd illustration accompanied a Boston Globe piece that was reprinted in the Ottawa Citizen, written by the Pulizter Prize-nominated journalist and writer, Alison Bass .The essay was about the tendency for many to make Freudian speech gaffes, as a possible result of mental battles waging in the subconscious mind. Bass reported that professor Daniel Wegman believed people might often say the wrong thing in their attempt to suppress thought patterns. Yet different forms of communication often occur, even when one is trying to suppress these thoughts.

Fascinating piece. Conversely, I would approach this subject in a completely different way if I had the opportunity to do it again. Because when it comes to the ideology of the Freudian mind, the options to visually translate such concepts are seemingly endless.
