Rolling in
This June is one of the stormiest I can remember. This past week, we saw two major hurricanes/European windstorms (called "Orkan" over here) with wind speeds peaking at around 100 km/h or more. In Berlin, the fire brigade moved out to hundreds of emergency operations. During the Thursday storm, thousands of trees were uprooted in the north-western boroughs and a forest in that area. Both on Tuesday and Thursday, the S-Bahn, Berlin's urban railway, stopped service for hours. It remains windy, and I assume that the upcoming heatwave in the next days will bring along more thunderstorms.
On Thursday, I ventured out on the balcony to take a few images of the impressive, really mean-looking clouds before the storm began. In my part of town, it was short and fierce, but luckily, we didn't see as much destruction as the Northern parts of town. Let's see what next week will bring.
