Golden Passion

This view of Berlin's river Spree, the Bode Museum, and the northern Monbijou bridge is by no means a winter image since I took it during a nice golden/blue hour mid-October walk with

magrit k.. But I think the colours lend a seasonal, festive look and mood to the scene, so it's my photo for this week's Sliders Sunday and the third Sunday of Advent.

The exhibition "Goldene Passion" showcased a special piece of work by Southern German Baroque sculptor Georg Petel (1601/02 – 1634), the spectacular reconstruction of a gilded crucifixion group that was bought in 1927 for the Bode Museum and showed the sculpted figures of the two thieves who were crucified with Jesus: Dismas and Gestas. The figure of Jesus, however, was thought to be lost but was only recently discovered at a depot of the Bavarian National Museum in Munich. The exhibition showed the reunited crucifixion group amongst other pieces of that era.

Wishing you a nice weekend ahead, dear Flickr friends!
