Neon Speed
"The ICC Berlin – a spaceship for the future"
Some Sunday sliding fun with Berlin's slumbering "spaceship", the ICC (International Congress Centre Berlin). Photographed last September at a rare open day on the occasion of the annual "Tag des offenen Denkmals" (Day of Open Monuments). I hope there will be more open days at the ICC because its 1970s "high-tech architecture" is a photographic gem.
This is a true slider. The gangway or "spaceship corridor" you are looking at actually is the ground floor's ceiling with its futuristic neon lights. The colours aren't true to the original, either (the neon lights on the ground floor are red and blue, these are the red ones), and there's a lot of "70s green", too. Nothing wrong with green, of course, but the blue/pink colour scheme I found while playing with the HSL color sliders in LR looked more sci-fi and kind of nicely flashy. Last but not least: the light stars. Some lenses are capable of nice light/aperture stars, some are not. I took this with the M.Zuiko 7-14mm, and it falls in the latter category. It's the "light blob" lens. Thankfully, there are such nice little helpers like "Magic Light" in Luminar Neo which saves images like this when the actual image is OK but the weird light blobs almost ruin it. I also added a small image border (PS layer style "stroke", "color burn").
