Mamma Mia

#sliderssunday

Doomsday in the neighbourhood? No, an exciting surprise in yesterday's midnoon sky. It was pure chance that I looked up on my way to the Saturday market. The day had begun dull and grey and there had been no spectacular light (or a preceding thunderstorm) that would have directed my attention to the sky. But what I saw called for some instant photographic action. Mammatus clouds are an extremely rare cloud event in my region, the last time we had them in Berlin was in spring 2021 (and not in my area, unfortunately) so I knew I had to take a few snapshots.

Of my two everyday-carry cameras I schlepp around (usually the GRIII and the LX100) I chose the Lumix because of its zoom lens flexibility. And because of the overcast, grey sky and lack of good light, the images lent themselves to a Sunday slider treatment. In the SOOC Raw files, there was a hint of greyish-blue in the clouds, and the first processing steps with DXO PL6 "Smart Lighting" and "ClearView Plus" nicely enhanced that blue and also the clouds' somewhat menacing-looking structure. In LR and Color Efex I added some warmth, vibrancy, and overall texture punch.

Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, and have a nice week ahead!
