The Sleep of the Just

A tabletop cat for #Caturday :)

And also for #sliderssunday

Cats are rare subjects for me ever since my cat Luzy passed away many years ago. I've photoGRIIIphed this sweet kitty one week ago at a garden centre :)

At first, I hadn't even noticed this pretty kitty. I'd noticed the emerald green rim of the glasses that were on display on one of the many tables with decorative things. And just when I wanted to reach for one of the glasses to take a closer look, a paw was stretched out idly. The cat had lain there totally still, in a deep slumber :)

Apparently I had overlooked it, because it's fur (orange tabby with hints of brown on the back, white belly, legs, and paws) is of almost the same orange tone as the tables there. I assume that the cat belongs to the owner of the garden centre, and spends its days among the customers, because it was totally relaxed. It didn't mind to be petted, it didn't mind my camera (and there were other customers, too, getting out their phones to take a few photos when they noticed that this was a real kitty and not another decoration). At one point, the kitty had enough of all the attention a garden centre celebrity gets, and it jumped from the table to take a stroll across the sales rooms. Definitely an encounter of the happy kind :)

I've checked out a new Photoshop filter here which I've stumbled upon randomly. I'd noticed a new set of "Neural filters" in the filter menu, and wanted to see what they are. These filters operate in the cloud, and most of them are still Beta versions.

I've checked out the "Depth Blur" filter to achieve a shallower DOF that the GR III simply couldn't produce at F2.8 wide open in this fairly crammed garden centre ambience. I assume that "Depth Blur" is a similar type of AI filter that helps phone cameras to achieve a shallow DOF look. Except that it doesn't do so automatically. You can adjust some sliders for different DOF effects. And while it took horribly long to apply the filter, I'm really pleased with the result.

Wishing Everyone a Happy Caturday and a great weekend, stay safe and healthy!
