Measuring the World: Pyramid of Geops
Width of the frame: 6,5 cm / 2,5 inches
Starry night over Giza, where the famous pyramids of Geo-za, the most famous of them being the Pyramid of Geops, were built by sheer manpower and brilliant planning between c. 2580 to 2560 BC... Well, my pyramids weren't built, but quickly set up from scratch (and with a little help of modeling clay to keep the Pyramid of Geops, err the triangle ruler in place), as this is another last minute shot taken today. Yesterday I was on a nice photowalk - with ghastly weather, though, autumn arrived with a cold, wet bang, boy, was it cold...
When I stumbled upon my geometry set square on Friday evening while I was desperately searching my apartment for an interesting looking measurement device, an idea formed in my head. I couldn't get a decent shot of my "Pyramids of Geo-za" then, though, so I was almost ready to skip. Today I decided to give it one more try... The smaller "pyramids": one is made of crystal glass, the other of amethyst. I used bird sand first, to give my scenery that "desert" touch, but soon realised that the sand just loved to stick to the glass and stone surface of the smaller pyramids which meant that I'd spread it everywhere every time I re-arranged the scene. And sand and lenses... are natural enemies. So today I settled for my jack of all trades and lifeline, the notorious glitter foamsheet both as "sand" and as starry night background.

Ah, these last minute entries... "Macro Monday stress" at its best... I really hope that you can see the pyramids, too ;-), in the end I wasn't sure anymore if the "pyramid scene" would really work at all... A Happy Macro Monday, everyone, and have a great autumn / spring week ahead!
Die Vermessung der Welt: Die Pyramiden von Geo-zah
Wieder so ein "Schuss in letzter Minute"... Macro-Montags-Stress pur. Die Idee hatte ich bereits Freitagabend, als mir auf der Suche nach einem interessanten Gegenstand für das Thema Measurement mein altes Geodreieck in die Hände fiel. Freitagabend wurde es mit einem vernünftigen Foto aber nichts mehr und weder Sonnabend noch Sonntag hatte ich Zeit dafür. Heute also ein letzter Versuch. Freitag hatte ich noch mit echtem (Vogel-)Sand für "richtiges" Wüstenfeeling als Untergrund experimentiert, aber Sand ist eben Sand und ganz schnell überall. Und auf meinem Objektiv wollte ich ihn definitiv nicht haben. Heute also meine Allzweckwaffe Glitzermoosgummi sowohl als Wüstensand als auch als nächtlicher Sternenhimmel. Knete hielt das Geodreieck an einem Karton in Position. Die beiden kleineren Pyramiden sind aus Kristallglas (links) und aus Amethyst.
Bearbeitet in Luminar (Mikrostruktur), ON1 Photo RAW (Detailverbesserung beim Geodreieck und Erhöhung der Sättigung beim roten Kreis) und Analog Efex (Filmvorgabe 7, warm, Vignette und mal wieder mein Lieblingsrahmen als Abschluss). Ich hoffe, Ihr könnt die Pyramiden von Geo-zah mit der großen Geops-Pyramide in der Mitte auch sehen, ich war mir zum Schluss nicht mehr sicher, ob die Szene überhaupt funktioniert.
