Last day on the R&N, much like the first
The first place out on the line that I ever rolled up on during my spring R&N trip was Vossburg Tunnel and what caught my eye right off the bat was the green and yellow bridge (with an unfortunate and expertly hidden bit of graffiti on it). It had been cloudy when I arrived so I set myself up for this oddball wedge. The sky cleared and the sun angle was definitely less than desirable, the bare trees didn't help either. I socked it away in the back of my mind for a crappy, rainy day and then never revisited.
It was on my mind again for the fall trip. As I looked at the forecast following RDC weekend I saw a definitely crappy day coming up on Tuesday and kinda went through my mental rolodex of crappy day shots that needed to be done (aka places where there is no good light window like here or places that simply never see a train in the light window). Not only did this spot meet the requirement but it would kinda-sorta be on the way towards the Finger Lakes region where I was headed.
Not long after the train (the 0800 PIME from Pittston) went into P&G I plopped myself down creekside here and waited and waited and waited. It was a busy day in Mehoopany and finally around 2pm (4 plus hours after they had arrived) the crew (now MEPI) called to get a warrant out. Mission accomplished and likely my last shot of the R&N for a long while. Now that I think of it these are the same 2 locomotives that I saw on this same train at the beginning of my spring trip.
