Common Green Shieldbug (Palomena prasina) ovipositing

I found this female ovipositing while I was gardening. She was preoccupied and I was able to stabilise the Evening Primrose plant which she was on.

I had the grand idea of taking a series of the eggs developing and the nymphs haching but something ate the eggs! So much for project planning.

Pentax K-3, Sigma 180mm APO macro on tripod. 1/15 sec f22, ISO 400. 6 June 2014.

Cropped to 1400 x 1050 px, shadows/highlights, incremental sharpeninig.
