This benevolent use of magic and his extensive lifespan had earned him widespread respect across the entire realm of Dommalex, particularly for his wisdom and kindness.
Also present within the kingdom were magical Mistresses. Mistress Virella was the most powerful among them, but she had left the kingdom because she used to be Shimmerah's teacher. The other Mistresses attempted to stop Shimmerah's wicked plans, but they all failed. Following their failure, dark spell casters joined Shimmerah, bowing low to her.
King Eldrin initially attempted to stop Shimmerah using white magic. When that proved insufficient, he summoned an elemental dragon. However, Shimmerah overcame his efforts. She took all of his magical items. She even broke his staff, which was known as the Staff of Wisdom. Finally, Shimmerah took King Eldrin's crown. She then made the old and now powerless ruler bow before her. After completing her conquest of Hexonu and acquiring its powerful items, Shimmerah used her Teleportation ability to return to her home queendom of Gonzzul, taking all the powerful items with her
