Saw this sign in Bejing and made me smile however it is not what you might be thinking.
Bedspacer is a unique Phillipino terminology for someone who shares a room, it literally means "bed space available".
This concept of "bedspace" or "bedspacing" is common in the Philippines mostly offered to students coming from the province who go to the major cities to attend university. Many of these students come from poor families and on a tight budget and cannot afford to rent a single room for themselves. To cater to this market, enterprising pinoys develop the concept of "bedspace". Depending on the size of the room, they put two to four double decker beds and they offer for rent the individual bedspace. The more bedspaces in a room, the cheaper the rent for each person.
