nesyuhgnilerf says: This classic represents Norsk Jul for me. You could almost sum it all up in this dessert: decadence, deliciousness, Norwegian berry culture (is this an actual term?) (multe/cloudberries), Norwegian dairy, and delicious Norwegian baked items (kromkaker), to be enjoyed with family.

nesyuhgnilerf says: A common Christmas side is the rutabaga mash/puree, or kålrotstappe. Often a carrot is added. Rutabaga is called the North’s orange, as there is a high vitamin C content. It can be grown all over Norway.

nesyuhgnilerf says: The Norwegians aren’t known to go all crazy with the Christmas decorations, like we do in the States. They usually stick to something classy, like wreaths/garland, and white lights.

nesyuhgnilerf says: The Norwegian flag garland is very commonly found on yup, Norwegian Christmas trees. Note the large lights; I have never seen the smaller, mini lights here, that are so common in America. It is also very common to make your own julepynt for the tree here in Norway, such as these hearts. God Jul!

nesyuhgnilerf says: A beautiful white Norwegian Christmas in Hamar. Not a ton of snow, as there can sometimes be, but you can bet it’s white.
