Busy As A ......
We have some succulent plants that put up these beautiful flowers on tall spindly stalks. Lots of them, and the bees love them. This was taken this morning in our garden. I took this with a new lens that I recently purchased, that I'm very pleased with for its sharpness, and the beautiful way that it renders out of focus backgrounds or bokeh. I was trying to take bee pictures with it yesterday, and I was frustrated because the minimum focusing distance of the lens is about 36 inches, and I couldn't get in close enough. This morning I decided to try putting on the largest of the Kenko Extension Tubes, and I found that I could get as close as 16 inches. I'm sure that if I put on the entire set of three extension tubes, I could get quite a bit closer. This one tube got me in as close as I needed to be for taking pictures of the bees. This was taken using a tripod and a Yongnuo RF-603N trigger as a shutter release.
I liked the bee pictures so much that I'm going to put together a little slide show, as a video, which I'll post soon.
