Poor Tenants

A few months back, we had an owl house installed on our property. It was brand new, pristine and was situated on top of a 15 foot tall, green, painted pole. A beauty of an owl house, if I do say so myself. We did this for two reasons. First, we wanted owls for rodent control, and second, we like birds and wanted an opportunity to watch owls. Within a week a couple of barn owls moved in.

They've definitely been catching rodents. Some of the evidence is in this picture. Ironically, the owls' house is directly over our iris garden, which is currently infested with gophers. Apparently, the owls like to hunt away from the house.

We've enjoyed having the owls around, but I wish they would hunt my gophers, and I wish I'd insisted on a cleaning deposit. Oh well.

I've put together a small set of pictures relating to the owls. Here's a link to that set www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157630045851110/...
