Wanna Fool Around?
I photographed this mating pair two days ago at Santee Lakes. Rarely have I photographed a dragonfly in flight, and the only reason I caught this is that I was pre focused on the staionary female.
I used a high ISO so that I could have a smaller aperture for more depth of field, and used an on camera Nikon SB700 flash in TTL mode to help separate the dragonfly from the background, and to provide some catch lights in the eyes.
Other pictures that I've taken over the years of dragonflies are in my cleverly titled Butterflies & Dragonflies Album.
