Pink Epkphyllum On A Cloudy Moorning

This pink epi opened last night, so I hurried to exploit it before it closed.

Lighting stuff: It's in a hanging pot in a tree on our property, and when I photographed it I wanted to separate it from the background so that it would stand out. I used camera settings that, on an overcast morning in the shade of a tree, caused the background to go dark, and then lit the flower with a YN560-III in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box, hand held at camera left, just out of the frame. The flash, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Over the years, I've taken quite a few "Epi" pictures, and they're in my Epiphyllum Flowers album, if you like that sort of thing.

Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422
